Magic Bottles

Do you think you can find the solution to excess weight in a bottle? This is what the labels of meal substitutes make you believe. However, the truth is these products won't make you lose weight as if by magic. There are other things you need to consider when following a diet plan that includes meal substitutes, in order to get good results.

Meal substitutes are individually-packed foods that are sold with the aim of replacing one or more meals a day. These products can be found in several presentations, including: instant shake mixes, ready-to-drink shakes (canned), and energy bars.

The purpose of using these products is to help you control your portions, thereby reducing the calories you eat each day, and consequently leading you to lose weight. This only occurs if you use them correctly, otherwise you may even gain weight.

These products must replace one or two of your main meals (breakfast, lunch or dinner). You may take one or two daily snacks, preferably fruits, vegetables, yogurt, or skim milk.

Be careful not to have these products in addition to your meals or as snacks. They contain the fat and calories of a complete meal. As their name suggests, they are substitutes.

Benefits:

  • They help you control your portions.
  • They're inexpensive.
  • They are easy to prepare and carry.

  • You may easily regain the weight you've lost once you stop using these products.
  • If you have any food allergy, be careful when selecting a meal substitute.
