What Is Your Body Type?

What Is Your Body Type?

Find out and show your attributes!

No two women have the same body shape, say those who’ve studied the human body. However, there are some common features that let us group female body types, determined by their body structure and the distribution of muscle and fat.

What most female bodies have in common are turning points, which are strategic parts of the body. These are the bust, waist, and hips. The circumferences of these points determine the shape and size of each woman.

There are four main types of female body shapes: banana, pear, apple, and hourglass.
According to an investigation by the State University of North Carolina, 46% of women have a “banana” shape, 20% have a pear shape, while less than 14% have an apple shape and only 8% of women have the hourglass body type.

The Four Types of “Female Bodies” and How to Take Advantage of Them
Knowing the type of body you have can surely be of much help. Not for you to sit in front of the mirror to mourn for not having an hourglass shape, but for you to choose the clothes that best fit you.
To do this, learn the tips shared by experts on style changes, Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine, conductors of the famous TV show “What Not to Wear,” on their book “The Body Shape Bible.”

• Banana:Their waist is 9 inches (23 cm) or less smaller than the hip sor bust. It is common that when there is weight gain, the body fat is deposited in the abdomen, buttocks, chest and face.
Tip: This body shape, named “column” by the TV hosts from “What Not to Wear,” is one of the easiest to dress. To avoid the image of an elonged body with no curves, these women should choose blouses or shirts with pleats or ruffles at the cuffs and waist, in order to break the endless body sensation. Also, at the time of choosing a dress, they suggest selecting a chiffon, since it favors women with this body type, according to experts.

• Pear:It is also known as “spoon-shaped, bell or triangle.” The hips circumference is larger than the bust. Such women tend to have large buttocks, strong thighs and small breasts. When they gain weight, the extra pounds usually accumulate in the waist and upper part of the abs.
Tip: If your upper body is thin, show it off! When you buy pants, avoid those with tweezers or pockets, because this makes your hips look bigger. When you wish to wear a skirt or dress, wear straight boots (to hide the calves). Use coats with a belt, in order to emphasize your waist.

• Apple:Also known as “inverted triangle.” The shoulders are wider than the hips. Legs and thighs usually tend to be thin, in contrast with the abdomen and chest. If overweight, the fat is usually distributed in the abdomen, chest, and face.
Tip: If your body has a “round” shape, it is important for you to avoid adding extra inches. To do this, choose flat-front skirts with a side zipper. If it’s difficult for you to find jeans that fit you well, look for trousers with wide legs.

• Hourglass or opposing triangles:This is the ideal body shape for the Western population. But only 8% of women have this body type! The hips and bust are, usually, the same size, and waist is narrow. With weight gain, body fat can accumulate in the upper and lower body, arms, chest, hips, and buttocks, rather than elsewhere (for example, waist or abs).
Tip: If your body has an hourglass shape, you don’t need too many tips, everything looks good on you! If maternity creates some “extra curves,” on your body, try wearing “V” necks and “tube” skirts.

Women who look good don’t always have the perfect body. What happens is that they know their body shape and have learned to choose the clothes that best fit them. Now, do you know your body shape?
