Exercise and Weight Gain

Q. Is it true that I can gain weight if I exercise?

A.When we exercise, especially anaerobic exercises (such as lifting weights), we promote muscle development. Muscles are tissues that weigh more than fat. That's why, even if we are burning fat, our weight may stay the same or even increase because we are building a greater musculature. In these cases, a good indicator of whether we are obtaining good results from our diet and exercise plan is the percentage of body fat: if this decreases, we are reaching our goal and burning fat.
