Lose Weight and Smile!

Would you like to be in a good mood all the time? It may sound incredible, but it is possible! Follow these steps and soon you’ll be smiling.

The National Institute of Mental Health and the World Health Organization estimate that depression is the leading cause of disability in the United States. For this reason, some have suggested scientifically proven non-pharmacological measures to prevent and treat this condition. Measures include different areas: nutrition, exercise, rest, and the environment. Here you’ll find some tips to help you feel happier and in a better mood every day.

Lose Weight and Smile!

Start with your food...

  • Keep stable blood glucose levels with these recommendations:
    • Avoid refined cereals (white bread, cakes, and biscuits).
    • Eat sources of complex carbohydrates (legumes, whole grain products).
    • Eat breakfast every day.
  • Drink enough water.
  • Eat fruits, vegetables, and dairy products every day and make sure to include fish in your diet at least twice a week.
  • Avoid fried foods and excess sugar.

Get Moving

  • Try to do some kind of exercise every day. Exercise makes your brain produce endorphins, which are responsible for elevating your mood.
  • Exercise also helps you stay healthy and fit, which in turn will put a smile on your face.

Get some Rest!

  • Bad mood may be a consequence of not getting enough sleep.
  • Follow these tips:
    • Use your bed only for sleeping.
    • Avoid watching TV in your bedroom.
    • Try to keep your room cool and dark.
    • Take a hot bath before bedtime.
    • Listen to soft and soothing music, read motivational books, or write in a journal.
    • Get a relaxing massage.
